My intuition is increasingly failing me: films that I am looking forward to are often disappointing and films that I leave aside, such as this film about a marital drama (what could be interesting about that?) turns out to be surprisingly strong. The other people who also post here also do their very best to mislead me every time...

Anyway, this is just a good film in which not only does the marital drama unfold in a fascinating way, but it turns out to have a deeper layer: it is actually a critique of the neoliberalism (deregulation, market thinking) of the 1980s with his greed and emptiness behind appearances. And it does so very convincingly.

Gloomy family story about a family that is destroyed by the unrealistic ambitions of the father. A solid drama with a pleasantly surprising Carrie Coon as the lady of the house, who has to endure a lot mentally.

Strange film that makes you constantly wonder what you are actually watching. Solid acting from the entire cast and it all looks neat, but the plot and characters just meander along a bit, without working towards anything. Occasionally the film seems to make a cautious foray into horror, but then it is quickly reversed.
