A rather stylistic film, with almost every scene shot with a fixed camera. The necessary space is left to allow the scenes to unfold beautifully. This slow-paced observational style won't suit everyone, but I found it intense to absorb the striking events. The film begins as it ends, with several thermal images. The first is gruesome, the second, as the film poster suggests, dazzlingly beautiful.

The film captures the profound bleakness of life after the war. Sergey feels lost, disconnected from his old or new life. All hope has vanished, and he feels like a stranger in his own homeland. This sadness is reflected in the bleak atmosphere and long shots. Some scenes were very powerful, the first autopsy scene, for example, was very intense, but I also enjoyed smaller scenes like the bathtub scene or the heavy downpour on the truck's windshield. Wonderful!

A surprisingly relevant film, given the war in Ukraine. Despite the strong cinematography, it wasn't a film I enjoyed watching. The dystopian imagery consistently left a bad taste in my mouth. The bathing scene in the loading shovel was a meager bright spot.

In itself a beautiful story that is told in a very minimalistic way.... But if everything is minimalistic it misses its mark in my opinion.. There are individual shots that are often too long... Telling a minimal story in a minimalistic way becomes too minimal for me..... I think the style misses its mark.... It also starts terribly gray, where all the color is turned away... Only halfway through is the color dial turned up a bit further.... It's easy to watch if you're not mesmerized... Which I prefer to do if the film grabs you... but here you can do a job in the meantime... The lovemaking scene was quite strange, they don't know each other and discovering each other is apparently not necessary, just turn on the sex button? No love..
