What a terrible, incredibly predictable, boring film. I wish they could call it a romantic comedy...

Terrible.

Get ready for the pun, because it doesn't get any better than this. A film that's utterly predictable from the very beginning. If there's such a thing as assembly line production in the film industry, this is one of the better examples.

The actors are truly terrible. There's absolutely no chemistry between them. The villagers are rather annoying, and the constant whining about city vs. country quickly became tiresome. Add to that some extra eco-babble, and it's just utterly distracting.

Furthermore, some pointless elements like the letters in the wall, the fake tension between the two main characters, and some "less lovable" characters who add little to nothing, result in a film that fails to captivate at any point. Cheap and extremely sentimental, it seems like no effort was made to disguise that.

1.0*

I had hoped/expected more from this film, but it turned out to be just another trivial affair: very cliché and predictable. The beautiful New Zealand footage did make up for some of it, but couldn't save the film in my opinion. It's a shame, because there's potential for more in this genre. But if you like this genre, you probably won't be disappointed...
