Jacob's Ladder plot
Jacob Singer has, after the death of his brother in Afghanistan some time ago, his life back on track. He is married, has a newborn baby and has built a successful career as a surgeon. When he is approached by a stranger who tells him that his brother is alive, his existence is turned upside down again. He begins to have visions and suspects that he is being followed by violent individuals. He becomes more and more obsessed with what really happened to his brother in all that time.
