Cynical journalist Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys) is assigned to write a profile about beloved television personality Fred Rogers (Tom Hanks). He reluctantly accepts this assignment. Yet a friendship seems to develop that changes Lloyd's outlook on life.

Sentimental film about Fred Rogers, the once celebrated American television host of educational children's programs on difficult subjects such as divorce, death, etc. Tom Hanks is said to have spent months studying Rogers' personality in preparation for this role. I've never seen a show of his, but what Hanks puts on screen does come across as honest and authentic, as does the cathartic effect that his philosophy of life has on his cynical interviewer. Hanks' best role in years.
A good feeling film pur sang, which I would like to recommend to people who are in trouble with themselves or with their immediate environment. Keep it simple!

What an incredibly beautiful story this has turned out to be. Of course these are 2 completely different people who grow towards each other and we have seen quite a few films of that. However, this one stands out positively. It is Tom Hanks who portrays the role of Fred Rogers very well. A man who believes in the good in people and is grateful. But let's not forget Matthew Rhys as the cynical journalist Lloyd Vogel. A man driven by anger, sadness and fear that keeps everyone at a distance. And Fred Rogers somehow manages to infiltrate Lloyd Vogel's armor. Beautifully filmed from the kids TV show into the real world. Very nice done. It has become a feel-good movie, but there is nothing wrong with that. Certainly not now!! Recommended? Absolute!!!

Not unrecognizable at all and even if you don't know the person who plays Hanks, he still manages to grab your attention right away, maybe even more for that reason.
A man who was full of love and was still a real and pure person (at least how Hanks plays this man as a character in the film) In a tough world in which the division has unfortunately become more and more (Certainly in America but also more and more in our own country) it is very nice to be able to see a pure film like this.
Hanks plays his best role in years as far as I'm concerned, humor and drama alternate strongly and do not stand in each other's way for a moment. The message of be yourself is one that we all know, but seldom conveyed so convincingly than in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood.
