Slaughtered cattle become trapped in a demonic house that plays on his greatest fears. The concept in question does not sound original and the most original thing you will have to do as a viewer within Christmas Presence appears to be that it takes place during the Christmas holidays. Charlotte Atkinson delivers solid acting and is a creditable main character, but director James Edward Cook and co-screenwriter Karen Taylor really make an absolute mess of it. The film is devoid of a competent tension arc, uninteresting visually and, above all, silly once the group comes face to face with the opponent. It doesn't help that the film takes 40 minutes to escalate things. Once that has happened, a messy and chaotic interaction between horror, thriller and drama follows that is never effective for a moment. Good acting and a nice relationship building between Atkinson and William Holstead liven things up, otherwise this is a Christmas horror film to quickly forget. The truly idiotic denouement nearly dropped my final rating by a full star.
