Peter Wald is a famous black dancer. Before he became famous, his name was Pedro Valdés and he worked as a servant. When he has his debut performance in Madrid, he meets Emma, who soon becomes his dance partner. Peter falls in love with Emma and shows her it. Because of his skin color, Emma is disgusted at the thought of marrying him.
