"It's summer camp. What did you expect?"
Sam is a mentor and on the run from a masked killer at the summer camp where he works. For Sam not to have auxiliaries in the form of the police, rather he calls his good friend Chuck who is an expert in slasher movies and therefore the ideal candidate to help him survive the night. Together they try to figure out how they ended up in their current situation.

Nice film in which the leaders of a summer camp for youth are slaughtered one by one. A fairly fresh slasher from the killer's perspective. Also a successful mix of horror and comedy that plays with the clichés of the slasher genre in an entertaining way. Despite the short length, the narrative is sometimes repetitive.

A comic horror film that uses the indestructible clichés of the slasher genre and uses the clichés humorously. The setting of the film is already a huge cliché. A holiday camp where a murderer roams around and goes on a terrible rampage. Camp leader Chuck is panicking and calls a friend who is an expert in the horror genre. She provides him with advice for a film by explaining the clichés to him. It is an original and successfully funny narrative structure.
The first half of the film in particular is well paced and entertaining. The film entertains well with a series of funny scenes in which the viewer is plunged into the murderous events together with the hapless Chuck. Funny finds and excellent kills ensure a lot of viewing pleasure. However, after a while the cake runs out and there are no new discoveries that should keep the story going. Scenes start to resemble each other, the mediocre acting starts to stand out and clichés are just clichés again. An hour and a half of playing time is not long, but suddenly it is too long a period of time to fill with fresh entertainment until the end.
You Might Be the Killer starts fresh and funny but ends quite salty.

Funny horror comedy with a pleasantly unpredictable course, despite director Brett Simmons doing everything he can to stay true to the classic elements. Fortunately, the fact that the film is self-aware enough ensures that You Might Be the Killer remains compelling enough, plus there is no shortage of gore and pace. The acting outside of Fran Kranz is not great and the humor is a bit lame, but Simmons experiments with the narrative structure and that sometimes surprises. The constant twisting of the content and the absurd approach remain entertaining at all times, but sometimes the makers could have cut back on the comedy. It is also a pity that the side characters are barely provided with color, but in the end I did not have to make any effort to get through the playing time.
