His best-known work includes films such as 'Double Indemnity' (1944), 'The Lost Weekend' (1945), 'Sunset Boulevard' (1950) and 'Some Like It Hot' (1959) starring Marilyn Monroe. Original footage of him, conversations with his colleagues, archival footage and new film footage tell the story of a cinematographic genius and at the same time paint the picture of an important century in history.
