Volckman is back.

Quite a surprise, after 13 years. And then you immediately get Kevin Janssen thrown in. Even after this film I still don't think he is the best actor, but even now he shows that he knows how to choose his films. Because although not as great as Volckman's first, this is still worth it.

In any case, a concept that is easy to catch on, because who wouldn't want a room like that? And as a viewer you quickly start thinking for yourself what you would wish for. You can also go in a lot of directions with this, it's a bit of a shame that Volckman makes it a bit too difficult for himself, because instead of making it a nice, juicy, pure genre film, he adds a thick layer of drama.

Not a bad choice in itself, but a French director who casts a Russian actress and a Belgian actor in an English-language film is asking for problems if real acting is required, of course. It's not that it's really substandard, but for a film that rests one leg on the drama, it's just a bit too subpar.

Fortunately, there is plenty to enjoy in terms of visuals and design. Great setting, some nice industrial designs and strong camera work. The genre part of this The Room is flawless, I tried to scale back the drama a bit within this context, but it certainly remains a fun and unique film. But Volckman's next one should be in French again as far as I'm concerned.

3.5*

The idea of this story is quite nice. What would you do if you could wish for anything you wanted to wish for?

It's just a pity that the characters go on incredibly irritatingly.

This gives you no sympathy for what will happen to them next.

You already feel that things are going wrong and that they have to pay a price for all their wishful behavior.

Sometimes this is worked out nicely, but often not at all.

Fortunately, the film isn't too long, so you don't give up just yet.

The Belgian actor Kevin plays well and has a beautiful appearance. Nice to look at. The actress is very annoying to watch.

This was another fun movie. A great idea and story that captivated from start to finish. The cast didn't do too bad and the film looked great. Thought it was worth seeing.
