Vitalina Varela plot
After waiting in vain for forty years for the plane ticket promised by her husband, the Cape Verdean Vitalina now arrives in Portugal, three days after his death. She finds a slum with a leaking roof and a murmuring priest with no followers. Everything and everyone stands still, sunlight does not seem to exist.
