The Perfect Murder plot
Police Inspector Ghote and his wife Pratima live in Bombay (now Mumbai), where they belong to the middle class. His wife actually wants a better life. Ghote has to solve the murder of a Parsi named Perfect, he was the secretary of the wealthy Lala Heera Lai. Heera Lai has connections to the underworld. Ghote finds it annoying that his bosses ask him to work with Swedish Axel Svennson, a forensic expert, who is very interested in learning how the police in Bombay works. In their research work they have to deal with power and corruption.
