Once a bright con artist, Julia is now the newest imprisoned woman. Her body and mind are exploited in a deadly experiment. The only obstacle that denies her freedom is TAU, the advanced artificial intelligence secretly developed by Alex, Julia's masochistic and enigmatic hostage. A film that has quite an OK concept. Because of the cringe-inducing dialogues and the immense amount of ill-considered things, it is still very shitty. Say, really embarrassingly thoughtless.

No Tau to tie? Bland... Yet another mediocre Netflix original, technically reasonable, but content very flat and predictable. The cast is also not up to scratch, with the beautiful but rather anonymous Maika Monroe in the lead role and Gary Oldman as a second-rate Hal-like computer voice. A nice visual find here and there, but it's all very thin and hardly exciting.

Modern take on the classic Demon Seed, but it didn't work for me. Clinically and quite emotionless this science fiction thriller, at times even annoying in one way or another. Sure to tie a rope as far as I'm concerned, but the message (humans are dominated by technological developments) is a bit too familiar and not penetrating enough to make an impression. The two protagonists are also not convincing anywhere, they were chosen more for their looks than for their talent. Especially Skrien as the bad guy lacks any conviction. The well-known, hard and sometimes annoyingly shrill voice of all-rounder Oldman doesn't help either, by the way. Failed experiment, quickly forgotten.
