In general I am not a big fan of Dutch films, but Carry Slee generally fascinates me. Both the poster and the plot reminded me of that, so I gave it a chance. Wasted effort, it doesn't come anywhere close to those films in terms of quality (except perhaps for the terrible acting).

The story is actually just weak. What did they want to achieve with this? For a family film it is far too exciting on some fronts and it can hardly be called fun. I wouldn't watch it with my son. Drama, well... Put in someone who is being bullied, a kid who has his own problems at home and voila: there we have our drama! One thing I don't agree with with my superior: a dramatic home situation can certainly lead to bullying behavior. In that respect, this film isn't all that bad.

Oh well, the film looks away, but that's pretty much it. It doesn't stand out anywhere, very, very mediocre in the genre and the acting performances are as we are generally used to here.

Dutch youth films should not be taken too seriously. But it was quite enjoyable for a quick look.

Danny [Roan van Dam] is a bully at school and the lesbian Suus [Tara Hetharia] is his main target. When his dominant girlfriend Janneke [Sietske van der Bijl] practically forces him to visit the famous fortune teller Caitlyn Wilson [Pamela Teves] with her, his life takes a nasty turn. He has seizures during which he has nightmares. In it, “judge, jury and executioner” Manon [Maaike Bakker] confronts Danny and other bullies with the consequences of their actions. Not only for their victims, but also for themselves. Well-intentioned, but poorly lit and cheap-looking youth drama with a highly variable cast. Bakker has her moments as the “crazy” Manon and Thomas Acda has a nice role as Janneke's father, but the denouement is lazy and completely unbelievable.
