Pray for Rain plot
Emma Gardner (Annabelle Stephenson) is a journalist based in New York. After the unforeseen death of her father, she returns to her hometown. There she discovers that the idyllic farming community of her childhood has been ravaged by drought, become a place terrorized by gangs and burdened by the ill effects of extreme poverty. She soon learns that her father's unfortunate death was not accidental. The list of possible suspects includes overzealous environmentalists, a local warlord and other farmers who envied her father's excellent reputation.
