"Play Time Is Over"

The annual Halloween festival is held in Panama. This year, however, there is a new attraction: the wandering clown "Clancy" and his attraction. A group of teenagers makes their way to the festival, but suddenly disappears. Some detectives are assigned to the case and start looking for the teenagers.

Confusingly lousy film with only a solid David Mingrino as Clancy the Clown as a bright spot. The fact that each of his texts consists of riddles and rhymes gives him a little more color, but I hope that his way of moving was not the design of Mingrino himself. In principle, he trudges behind everything disinterestedly and only puts out a paw very late. Certainly the first one looked quite silly, but more silly than that is Susan Engel's direction. The confused, chaotic camera work barely manages to showcase anything of the haunted house and the group of teenagers wanders around and through it, lost. The entire police investigation that is included only unnecessarily increases the running time, even though it only lasts 73 minutes (not 88 as indicated here and on IMDb). The plot twists are cardboard and the finale uninspired, but what is mainly the failure of Haunted Maze is the boring haunted house attraction itself. Almost all opportunities for some cheapo fun are thrown overboard by Engel, resulting in a film that lasts and lasts but never manages to convince.
