Game Over, Man!

Mediocre. Adam Devine is back in the game, and that's usually a harbinger of what to expect. Game Over, Man! is a parody of Die Hard and other 80's action movies, but of a questionable level. Sometimes there is quite a bit to laugh (smile), but more often it is just painfully unfunny. The crazier the better the makers must have thought, but that turns out completely wrong here. But hey, Rhona Mitra is in. Always a plus.

Reasonable.

I'm not a big fan of screaming and adolescent American humor. Adam DeVine is a small exception for me and he and him alone made me laugh at times. He did have some funny lyrics.

For the rest, the film goes a bit further in violence and bloody events. And I thought that was all more than fine, because the film then starts to look away again. Of course it was sometimes very over the top, but that was part of it.

Funny cameos from superstars, the humor wasn't funny enough but there's enough craziness in it to keep you entertained.

Think it's funny.

But strange enough, not if the film itself was trying to be very funny. The explicit humor is even annoying, simple stoner happening that immediately equates flat with funny. Adam Devine is an annoying actor, prefer not to see him in movies.

Fortunately, the film is more than just comedy, because there are also a lot of other genres mixed in. And with success. A bit of brutal action with some horror elements ensures that the film remains very watchable, especially because it makes the film somewhat unpredictable.

It is a film with clear ups and downs. Some films are funny and surprising, others slow and unfunny. And so it keeps swinging back and forth a bit. Fortunately, it doesn't last too long, so it never really has time to get annoying.

Nice snack, but just too many bad moments for a decent score.

2.5*
