Atmospheric film, beautiful images. Plays from 1838 to 1861 in Spain and France. Time image is carefully and realistically depicted. The starting point is the history of a Basque man with giant growth from Alzo. The film turns it into a story of two brothers.

Pace is very calm. On the one hand beautiful, but on the other hand there is no clear development line or cohesion. A lot of separate scenes in a row. Much silence and looks between the two brothers, their words are brief. Those looks must say a lot, but I personally prefer more concrete dramatic content. The film consists of four chapters, the first three still fascinated me, but the fourth I didn't like much anymore. And he is so sad, this story, but too confused to be beautiful. All in all, I wasn't too happy with it.

According to history, the bones of the man with giant growth disappeared from his grave in Alzo, in this film too, but in 2020 they were still found there.
