Not bad. I can easily daydream with these kinds of films... pure escapism. In terms of special effects, there was hardly any movement from the 50s to well into the 70s. That is also why the film looks quite dated in that respect. The foam on the submarine that is supposed to represent the freezing spots, the hand puppet dinosaurs (the very first one they fight looked really clumsy), images from a documentary about volcanoes that are edited in between. Still, this film does its utmost to create the necessary atmosphere with colorful mattes that make the film visually appealing and even have a reasonable review value.

Reasonable film in which the crew of a British and German submarine are dependent on each other. On some fronts this film has not stood the test of time (and I don't just mean the outdated special effects). It is presented adventurously enough and the finale with quite a bit of action is the best part. A narrow 3.0 stars.

After Cable Hogue, I watched another oldie and chose this Netflix film, which seemed like an interesting crossover between genres and interesting influences.

And it must be said that The Land That Time Forgot gives an ominous image, in combination with music, of the open sea. It makes you think about the dangers and doom that hung over people's heads during the naval war. Apart from that, the capture of the U-boat crew is not the strongest point of the film in which the need for land and supplies presents itself, whereby the mysterious Caprona is visited. If there are any negative points in this film in that respect, it is the so-called capture of the German officers and the phase that follows and feels long, because where is that island? That is what it is all about after all.

But when that island is found after 40 minutes, The Land That Time Forgot is making serious progress. Because the underwater passage looks beautiful, just like the rest of the island where a beautiful world has been created. And then I read to my surprise that it would not look good or old, have seen the same? Because I think the dinosaurs fighting and moving in their world look more than good with the production year in mind, namely 1974. I think this film was really a novelty at the time. And of course there is more than enough happening on the island between the dinosaurs, rival tribes and the crew and their guests who try to survive with a volcanic eruption as the finale.

And so this unknown adventure film with a beautiful film poster entertained a lot better than Cable Hogue and can therefore count on a nice pass.
