"In a deserted town... The terror continues!"
A group of friends take a wrong turn and arrive in a mysterious village. They discover that the village is dominated by a cult of children, who are possessed by the devil. One of the friends finds out that her little brother has joined the cult and decides to save him before it's too late.

Weak episode that still contains quite a few famous names, but that doesn't make this a good film.

Not that anyone should have high expectations for a fifth Children of the Corn, but I expected at least something more funny from the writer of House and House II. Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror may take it all a bit less seriously than its predecessor 'The Gathering' (and also brings back He Who Walks Behind The Rows), but witty pulp like in the third film remains absent. Actually, this Fields of Terror is mainly a dull and lifeless product. The only memorable aspect of this film is the amount of relatively well-known names. Last time we had Naomi Watts, this time we see Eva Mendes and supporting roles from Kane Hodder, David Carradine and Fred Williamson. The confrontation between the last two gentlemen produces an idiotic, and therefore amusing, sequence, but otherwise Children of the Corn 5: Fields of Terror is extremely saltless.

Director Ethan Wiley takes the lead for the fifth part, which no longer makes any effort to be somewhat distinctive. This is a slasher through and through, even the cattle for slaughter now consists exclusively of horny and annoying teenagers. Nevertheless, the children are a bit nicer and the finale is a bit looser, but I was blown away by the entire build-up. It doesn't help that the acting of the protagonists is not very high-quality and the substantive plot twists make no sense. The murders still remain a bit more creative than other similar heel films, but I shrug it off. Nice to see a young Eva Mendes, although her character adds little to the whole.
