Circus of Horrors plot
"Spectacular Towering Terror! One man's lust...made men into beasts, stripped women of their souls!"
In 1947, when a British plastic surgeon treats the daughter of a circus owner who had been maimed by bombing during World War II, her father is so grateful that the surgeon is later allowed to take over the circus from him. Once owner, the latter treats even more mutilated women, who then become beautiful stars on his show. Then, however, these women die one by one in strange accidents.

A delightful old-fashioned film that aims to be more of a drama than a horror. However, for its time, this might have been offensive to an audience that wasn't used to much. But the story is captivating from beginning to end due to the doctor's sinister intentions and the fact that the scene of the horror primarily takes place in a circus. A very nice premise that culminates in a well-constructed story with an excellent cast. Anton Diffring as the doctor is perfectly cast and is well supported by Jane Hylton and her brother Kenneth Griffith. Donald Pleasence's cameo is a nice touch. And what about the beautiful ladies who appear here: Yvonne Monlaur plays a naive daughter of Pleasence, Erika Remberg who sees through the doctor and plays along with his game as long as it suits her, and the voluptuous ladies Vanda Hudson and Yvonne Romain. The ending is fitting and well-chosen. 7/10

A nice film about a plastic surgeon who, due to circumstances, starts running a circus. An original story, but it revolves too much around one point, causing it to become somewhat repetitive. The circus provides an excellent backdrop for this fairly macabre film (certainly for that time). Consequently, the entire set design looks good and colorful.

Not bad, but you can't really say it's good either; the plot is rather implausible and quite far-fetched, the circus footage is professional and reasonably integrated into the story, but the story itself is a bit strange and the bad guy's motives are quite weird.
