Damn folks, 3.19? I always thought this was a 2.45 or something. I could have understood that. A few months ago I saw the trailer for this film and then my interest was aroused. I've seen him now but he disappointed me. The great thing about the film is of course the story, which has an incredible amount of potential. The best part was when he ended up in a heaven made up of Annie's paintings. Wonderful special effects!
But Robin Williams seems to be a terrible miscast for this movie. He annoys me time and time again. The same goes for Cuba Gooding. Terrible And there's such awful, soggy drama in it. And then there were the ridiculous scenes in which his children suddenly appeared all this time disguised as other family members / acquaintances. I thought it was pretty bad, to be honest. I haven't even watched it completely. I then stayed with the part that he sees his wife in hel... wasn't exactly curious how it ended.

A lot of potential but it has actually become a misfire of a film.

Man man man what a painfully bad movie this is. A 2.5 for the nice graphics.

But, what an incredibly boring story. Couldn't this concept have been worked out better? Of course it has to end all right again . Geez, that was cringe-inducing.

Williams' performance can't make it either, seems to be playing a bit on autopilot. As well as Von Sydow (yes the producers thought, we're adding a big name!) and Gooding Jr.

Incredibly corny and dull. William's biography thinks otherwise. But not me. Bah.

Many think that there is nothing after death. This film offers a better picture: after death you live in a world that you shape with your own imagination. It is simply much more beautiful and comforting to believe that you are in your own utopia in the afterlife.

Chris' family has a hard time during life: children die in an accident, himself too, then his wife commits suicide. So melodrama. Where it started to bother me are the religiously tinted visions that pierce later in the film. That suicides go to hell, that heaven or hell are a personal choice... in the end the author turned out to be very much inspired by his Christian upbringing and its rigid images. Plus, it gets so sweet and floury at the end that I was completely stuck in my seat. Visually very nice special effects. Life after death is depicted as a fantasy world with oil painting landscapes, then with utopian environments. Nice to see, but it rammed too much and too long on the tragic to really impress me. One of Williams' lesser.
