Typical B film that gets some attention thanks to the presence of DeNiro, but otherwise would be completely skipped. There is no reason at all to watch this movie. The story is trite, the characters completely uninteresting and the direction formulaic.

Very negative comments here I don't understand. It's definitely not a B-movie. De Niro doesn't play badly and not well. I must say that he is also not the actor who should carry this film. I thought it was a fun look away action movie. Has been done before of course. But quite OK.

Weird.

It's always a bit of a mystery to me how directors can look back on their result and think it's actually well thought out. This one is full of fun twists, but worked out in a completely wrong setting.

Big names have been brought in, but the ideas put into the film seem to constantly get in each other's way. For example, the story with De Niro is not at all interesting in a hostage film. It's therefore a mystery to me why the director didn't keep the full focus on the hostage situation.

The side characters are also just a bit stupid, and the decisions are getting more and more stupid as well. The director and scriptwriter all seem a bit too easy about it, and the result is a sloppy film full of implausibility.

It is also a bit strange that it wants to go further and further with the weird ideas. Big mistakes are forgiven in this way, the sympathy is far too easy and some characters become really shamelessly easy to convince sometimes.

The next incredible moment piles up at a rapid pace, especially in the last half hour. The movie could have had strong moments. The first 15 minutes signal a raw, compelling film. But what we get next is very unbelievable action and 0 thriller.

It is also sometimes too sweet. Dean Morgan tries to keep it all going but can't hide the fact that the film is a mess. It's all too strange, so any sympathy for someone is completely gone after half an hour.

A slightly more straight forward movie would have helped. Or you just need to stretch the film a bit. Now it's all messy, very unbelievable and often just plain stupid. But nevertheless the film is entertaining and Dean Morgen & Bautista are a nice duo.

Because it never gets boring and the first fifteen minutes is nice and raw and quite strong, it still gets 2.5*. And then I've been pretty generous.
