Der Bettelstudent plot
Poland, 1704. Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony rules the country. The brash Colonel Ollendorf rules as governor of Kraków, which is under martial law as civil unrest continues to break out. But that doesn't bother the upper class. During a ball of Countess Nowalska, Ollendorf meets her daughter Laura and falls in love with her. When he tries to kiss her, he gets a solid slap in the face. From then on, Ollendorf is out for revenge.
