Grazing the Sky plot

"My vertigo is not fear of heights, but the desire to fly."

The impressive grace and daring that acrobats display in their acts are the result of years of study, practice and an iron discipline. Working as an acrobat means a life away from home and the constant threat of serious injury. This documentary gives a look into the world of circus acrobats and the special dimension in which they live. Director Horacio Alcala followed eight female and male acrobats from around the world and alternates interviews with scenes in which his characters perform the most breathtaking acts with grace and daring.

A documentary about a number of circus artists from the Cirque du Soleil. It seems interesting at first, and the opening scene is also promising. There are some very beautiful images in the documentary, and a lot of traveling went into it, because the people come from all over the world. And the circus does too. But ultimately, or actually very quickly, it turns out that the premise for the documentary is actually quite thin. All the artists talk about their lives, their drive, their passion, everything they have to give up to reach such a high level. But it is all very fragmented. First one tells a bit, then another, and then another. So it takes a while before you start to figure out who said what about their life. But ultimately, none of that matters. It is all more of the same. And then 87 minutes feels quite long.
