Surprisingly fun movie with lots of nods to her famous brother 007. McCarthy will never be my favorite comedy actress, but she's really on a roll here. And she is supported in Spy by a strong cast with a great Statham, Jude Law who clearly has fun in his role, and Rose Byrne who seems to be able to do everything and has a nice role here as Bulgarian gangster boss.
Byrne and McCarthy have great chemistry and together they provide some comedic highlights. The film is 2 hours long, but it never gets really long. The momentum is well maintained by Feig and the joke density is also good. Spy is farcical entertainment, and the fun the actors radiate, the good action scenes, the beautiful locations and the fun humor make it a successful comedy that never gets boring.

Tried to watch this movie yesterday, the beginning seemed promising but after an hour I had already seen it again. I then switched the TV to another channel. I really didn't think it was about anything and couldn't be bothered at all. luckily I'm alone and the TV is my own because if my partner wanted to look further we would have had an argument.

Oh how I love Melissa McCarthy!
The story is not really special, seen many times before.
But the humor is fantastic. Almost every joke is actually funny.
And yes, that is largely due to the excellent acting of McCarthy.
This role is perfect for her, so good.
I generally don't like to see Statham busy, but here I found him, contrary to expectations, quite witty and in place.
2h is a long time for a movie like this, and yet I thoroughly enjoyed the full runtime.
This is simply fun at its best.
