Even for a non-fan like myself (my partner wanted to see the documentary) very watchable.

What a life that woman has had; an unloving mother, an abusive husband, etc.

Where many artists seem to go on and on, at the end of the documentary you understand all too well that she has stopped. I caught myself giving her all the rest and was happy that she found love.

A compelling documentary.

In 2019, the almost 80-year-old Anna Mae Bullock, better known as Tina Turner, decided to trade her secluded life in Switzerland one more time for a visit to the US where Tina, The Tina Turner Musical will premiere. She wants to say goodbye to her American fans there and also decides to tell her life story one more time (and for the very last time). Anyone who has followed Tina Turner at all since the successful launch of her solo career with the 1984 album 'Private Dancer' is probably well aware of her love/hate relationship with her mentor and first husband Ike Turner and the fact that it was very it took a lot of effort to get out of his shadow. This documentary provides virtually no new facts about Tina Turner's life, but it does score by placing her life story and her personality as an artist in a cultural-historical context. A respectful portrait of a woman who absolutely deserves her iconic status, but Lindsay and Martin could have left out some long musical interludes.

I don't see what could have been better about this documentary.

Tina Turner also participates in it in a dignified and intelligent way, without displaying any posterity whatsoever.

It's built up perfectly, in five chapters I think.

The abuse by her partner Ike, who will define (almost) her entire life, is treated openly in the first part, but continues to resurface as a teasing spirit in the documentary, just as it was in real life.

The documentary makers take the time to broadcast almost entire songs live, but the film does not get long-winded at any time.

It's the story of a survivor. From a time when spousal abuse and rape was not considered a crime. It hurts me that Ike was never punished for his heinous crimes.

I'm a big music lover and although I must have at least one of her CDs in my collection I can't say I'm a super fan.

She has several beautiful hits that will forever be a piece of pop history.

Apart from the story of those years of abuse and the fact that she shared the stage with many other legends, I didn't know much about her life.

So many spectacular rock 'n' roll stories have not happened in her life.

But once again I want to emphasize the perfection of the structure of the report.

Her star that rises with Ike, the abuse, the break, the constant struggle to eventually perform for 180,000 (!) people in Rio de Janeiro and...

Finally the love she found.

Touching, sad, beautiful!!!
