Magical Girl plot

"Be careful what you wish for."

Luis, an unemployed literature teacher, tries to fulfill the dying wish of his ailing 12-year-old daughter. She wants the official dress from the Japanese series "Magical Girl Yukiko". The high price of the dress leads Luis to initiate a series of blackmails and extortions. He gets to know Bárbara, an attractive but mentally disturbed woman, and Damián, a retired teacher with a troubled past. Together they find themselves in a dark web where instinct and reason collide.

In the end I was left with an unsatisfactory feeling. The atmosphere and approach is 'different than usual' and that is a big advantage. However, it is difficult to get deep into the film due to the varying focus of the stories. There is overlap of characters, but I miss the depth. Towards the end it seems to go off the rails a bit, because I thought it was pretty far-fetched and illogical that the neighbor/former teacher just wanted to take on a murder (and eventually more) for crazy Barbara. The biggest flaw is the pace, it seems to go slower and slower and that does not benefit the film at all. The focus is incidentally (offbeat, dark) drama, I have not been able to discover the thriller, or it must be the touch of crime. The approach is good and original, the effect is less so.

Shortly after Luis [Luis Bermejo] learns that his granddaughter Alicia [Lucía Pollán] will not make it to her 13th birthday, he reads in her diary what her greatest wish is: the dress from a Japanese television series. However, it turns out to cost almost 7,000 euros, but Luis decides that any means is allowed to get the money together. So also scam and blackmail. But his desperate first steps into crime have unpleasant consequences. Complex drama with thriller elements is sometimes a bit confusing, but contains more than enough beautiful moments to keep you captivated, including the surprising finale.

A strange film in which three stories actually come together. I've seen this concept many times before. This one is actually quite boring. I don't get why they Barbara don't show her scenes in the rooms] Now it's just the suggestion that is given. Perhaps the second room would have been too explicit and brutal, but bon certainly could have done it, she had been naked before.

Magical Girl has a great soundtrack and good acting performances. The ending is quite Tarantinoesque, but surprising. I was surprised that the old man suddenly shot the teacher.
