Hin und Weg plot
Every year Hannes and his wife Kiki take his best friends out for a bike ride. And every year someone else from the group can decide where the trip is going. This time it is Hannes' turn and he chooses Belgium. The enthusiasm for this destination is limited, but this does not outweigh the expectations of the joint journey and the prospect of conviviality and crazy jokes. But Hannes wants to go to Belgium for a special reason: he suffers from an incurable nervous disease and wants to submit his request for euthanasia in Belgium.

An excellent and very moving film with the close bond between the friends as the central theme; at times, you cannot hold back your tears. Top-tier German actors, such as Hannelore Elsner as the mother and top actor Jürgen Vogel, also participate in this beautiful film, which elevates it even further. Furthermore, there are many beautiful shots in this road movie, and the fine soundtrack does the rest. Oh, and remember to bring an aspirin for after the film, because you will be left with a splitting headache. A solid eight, so 4 *

A young man has the incurable neurological disease ALS and undertakes a bicycle trip from Germany to Ostend with his wife and a few friends to commit euthanasia.
Slowly, the friends find out the reason for their cycling trip.
The story is full of clichés and a few overly dramatic crying and cuddling moments.
The journey is very long-winded, and here and there attempts are made to liven up the story with comical situations, but mostly it remains utterly boring.
Beautiful landscapes and soundtrack, but a rubbish storyline and characters that are completely underdeveloped make this "drama" a nightmare to watch.
For me personally, a letdown.

A group of family and friends is going on a major cycling trip. The film is full of lame jokes and sexual allusions, so I soon start to worry about a film that is barely watchable. But then it turns out the purpose of the trip is actually a lot more serious. And from that moment on, the film leans on two minds. When it is serious, there are sometimes very beautiful scenes, but sometimes it goes back to the silly side, and then the film is very mediocre again. And ultimately, it is not a real top film. For that, the film is too straightforward and simplistic. With a subject like this, it is not difficult to evoke emotional scenes, but that does not automatically make for a good film.
