I would first like to refer to the previous comment by ikkegoemikke (September 26, 2015), which describes the film aptly.
I thought it was an interesting film with a very nice ending, in which the emotions finally come loose. These are in stark contrast to the distant relationship that the autistic boy in question has had with his mother and his environment until then. Those were pretty painful scenes. I didn't like the second storyline about the sick math teacher's relationship with the mother, but that subplot doesn't really matter that much.
A fine film with a good story and striking performances by Asa Butterfield and Sally Hawkins. Nice work by documentary maker Morgan Matthews on his feature film debut.

Nice movie. Movies about misfits attract me and I find autism an interesting subject. I like to learn about it. People used to think I might be autistic because of some deviant behavior, but I was just really shy and socially awkward (never passed on). I have nothing to do with math. I'm not good at that at all, but luckily that's not necessary to watch this film. I think the acting is excellent. Very strong and real. The film looks very nice, the image looks good and the story continues to captivate, as far as I'm concerned. I think the music is beautiful and appropriate. Events like the death of Nathan's father are intense and sad, but I don't think the sentiment is exaggerated. If I have to describe it in four words, I choose fine, lovely, vulnerable and sensitive. 4.5*!

A film about autism really appeals to me for personal reasons. Nathan's autism affects his whole being and his whole life. He finds it difficult to contact the outside world and when his only soul mate, his father, tragically dies, he becomes even more isolated from everyone.

Much to the despair of his caring and loving mother, who has been living fragile for years. Great role and excellent casting from Sally Hawkins. Nathan has never been able to build the same bond with her as with his father. Sometimes very hard sad scenes of a seemingly selfish and annoying son we couldn't have known better.

Everything revolves around prime numbers and by extension mathematics. The math teacher offers an extra nice light-hearted component to the film. Funny at moments like the first love scene, the self-help group or the visit to the doctor which was nice and sarcastic.

X&Y is a tenderly warm drama that goes beyond autism. Of course, much is often the result of autism, but there is also attention for trauma, friendships and relationships. Something you don't see much with Rain man. Nice ending too, not at all cliché happy ending. Good looking!
