Ted Lasso, Succession and The White Lotus were among the big winners at the 2022 edition of the Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Primetime Emmy Awards is an awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating the best of primetime television each year whether it be from an artistic or technical point of view. It is generally considered to be the most prestigious TV award ceremony in the world and has been running since the first ceremony took place at the Hollywood Athletic Club in Los Angeles in 1949.
The most coveted awards are for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series, Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series, though each of the awards given on the night comes with its own degree of prestige.
There are numerous versions of the Emmy Awards: Primetime, Daytime, Sports, News & Documentary, Children's & Family, Engineering and Regional.
The 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with Kenan Thompson serving as the host.
Succession won the award for Outstanding Drama Series, while Ted Lasso collected the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Jason Sudeikis picked up two awards on the night, as in addition to the best comedy, he won the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series award for his role in Ted Lasso.
Jean Smart won for Hacks in the actress category.
As for dramatic acting, Lee Jung-jae won for Squid Game and Zendaya won for Euphoria respectively.
