Strange...I saw the high score on MM and went to have a look. Apart from the terrible fact that the pharmaceutical industry is if necessary about corpses, I think this is a series that makes caricatures of people and their human behavior. The confused course over the years is also a reason for me that the series does not stick. Strange that the series scores so high, 2 stars is the maximum for me. And then only for the courage to raise the subject.
If this is an exemplary example of US people, then you hold your breath for society there...

The largely fact-based drama Dopesick tells the story of a fictional mining town in Virginia, where the drug OxyContin is introduced. OxyContin is extremely addictive (ten times stronger than morphine), but is categorized as a mild pain reliever by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Creators Danny Strong (Empire) and Barry Levinson (City On A Hill, Rain Man) have turned it into a realistic and gripping drama.
Michael Keaton - long time back in a full-fledged series - is great as a local GP, as is Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable) as one of his patients. Michael Stuhlbarg (The Looming Tower, Fargo) also plays CEO Richard Sackler with a ruthless, careless drive. Dopesick's drama unfurls like a strangle snake. OxyContin's ruthless sales techniques and addictiveness ultimately lead to half a million deaths. That is why stories about courageous journalists, lawyers, whistleblowers and individuals cannot be told often enough.
