France, 1793. During the French Revolution, the people are weighed down by the brutal regime, while one man defies the state: The Scarlet Pimpernel. Under the identity of Percy Blakeney, he is a popular member of the upper class, but at night he goes out in camouflage to save innocents from the gallows. He often gets the help of a group of friends.
