The Ahern family lives in a small town on the wild and rugged coast of County Clare. The morning after a family celebration, when Val Ahern's husband Denis is found dead at the foot of the rocks near their home, Val investigates the events of the previous night. Meanwhile, she is determined to protect her daughters Jenny, Anna and Grace.
