Andrea, who works as a safety inspector for the oil company Benthos Oil, is sent to oil rig Rig 45 two days before Christmas to investigate a fatal accident. The crew is tight-lipped, and Andrea suspects there's more to it. The oil platform is then closed off from the rest of the world by a hurricane. While the weather presents severe challenges and no communication with the mainland is possible, a second victim falls. The realization dawns that it is not about accidents, but about murder. It's inevitable that the killer is still on the platform, a disturbing thought.
