Dark Winds season 1

Pretty nice series in a Navajo reservation that takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Monument Valley, I would watch for that alone. Been there a few times, this area where the horrible westerns with John Wayne were filmed. Nature is beautiful but terrible things have happened to the original population of course. The acting is mostly good certainly McClarnon is strong....

Dark Winds season 1

No Country For Indian Men. 'Dark Winds' puts its own unique spin on the sultry neo-Westerns of literary greats like Cormac McCarthy and Elmore Leonard. This time from the perspective of Native Americans on a Navajo reservation. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) plays the righteous detective who suffers from the immense wickedness of others. He finds it increasingly difficult to understand the changing world. Perhaps even more poignant because the historical pain of the Native Americans still weighs on his mind daily. Young agents Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) and Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) also grapple with the legacy of the past in their own ways. The series is so relatable, yet unique thanks to its chosen approach. This is evident in the respectful handling of the magical-realist worldview of the protagonists.
