Moonshiners plot
Moonshiners follows people who illegally distill their own spirits called "moonshine" in the Appalachians. We see several men continue the 200-year-old tradition of their ancestors, setting up their own distilleries deep in the woods, while trying to evade the police. The Virginia authorities (along with North Carolina and South Carolina one of the states where the series is filmed) have stated that there is no actual illegal use of liquor for the television program, and if there were, they would have taken action .
