The Get Down plot

Too bad about the weak and especially lifeless second half, otherwise this would have been a great series. The beginning is spectacular and virtuoso, especially the long first episode directed by Baz Luhrmann. Music, camera work and design are all of a high standard and together they form a tasty and above all energetic cocktail. It's also a lot of fun to follow the different plot lines against the background of the rise of hip-hop and rap culture in New York, supplemented by funk and disco. Over time, however, most of the characters lose their charm and it starts to get tough. Towards the end, things get really rushed. Too bad, because this had a lot of potential.
