The Day of the Triffids plot

Bill Masen is recovering from eye surgery in a London hospital. One day he discovers that he is one of the few people who can still see. During his recovery period, a meteor appeared that blinded almost everyone who looked at it. The meteor's precipitation is accompanied by the dispersion of a flower-like substance from which man-eating plants grow. The surviving humans try to group and fight the plants.
