Teluh Darah plot

Jakarta, 2018. The life of Wulan, a beautiful and intelligent woman with bright prospects, takes a gloomy turn when a series of bizarre incidents plague her family. The patriarch of the family dies a gruesome death in front of his wife and children. Around the same time, in Bogor, a young man named Esa witnesses the equally tragic death of his father. Linked by similar fates, Wulan and Esa decide to team up to investigate the cause of their father's death.

Oow ik ben de eerste met mening/recensie over deze serie, te zien op Disney+. Nu dat ik nog eens Disney+ heb aan €1,99/m gedurende 3 maanden, probeer ik er ook optimaal van te profiteren. En ook op Disney+, tijdens deze Halloween-periode hopend op wat extra horror. En ja, zag deze Indonesische horror-miniserie Teluh Darah op de homepage passeren en deze zonder veel achtergrond ingegaan. En jup de serie wist me al snel te boeien en ja je ervaart zeker dat typisch Indonesische, met nadruk op het occulte, spirituele, voodoo en bezetenheid. Soms is het er wel eens over en hierdoor wat kitcherig lachwekkend, maar dit was hier zeker niet zo, een beetje over the top, ja, maar leuk in deze serie. Ik ervaarde een continue heerlijk duister sfeertje, met zowel de aanwezigheid van het oculte, creepy bezetene alsook de nodige body horror en gewoon ook goeie acteerprestaties, wat gewoon resulteerde in een zeer vermakelijke horror-serie, die zeer vlotjes wegkeek. En het was ook continue, dat de serie je altijd iets te bieden had en amper tot nooit een saai of dood moment. In twee dagen/nachten uitgekeken, dat is veelal goed tot zeer goed teken vr een serie, zeker hier, want als een serie niet snel aanslaat, haak ik af of ist uitkijken met de nodige tijd en moeite. Daarom zal ik zelden een serie hebben, die ik volledig heb uitgekeken, met echt slechte score. Eerder halverwege besef dat dit het niet is en daar dan op beoordeel. Overall een welverdiende 8/10 voor deze Indonesische horror-serie. En aanrader voor de liefhebber vh genre, maar besef dat er ook genoeg zullen zijn die dit té vinden.

Now that I have Disney+ again at €1.99/m for 3 months, I am trying to take full advantage of it. And also on Disney+, hoping for some extra horror during this Halloween period.

And yes, saw this Indonesian horror miniseries Teluh Darah passing by on the homepage and went into it without much background.

And yes, the series quickly captivated me and yes, you certainly experience that typical Indonesian experience, with an emphasis on the occult, spiritual, voodoo and possession. Sometimes it is over the top and therefore a bit kitschy and ridiculous, but this was certainly not the case here, a bit over the top, yes, but nice in this series.

I experienced a continuous wonderfully dark atmosphere, with the presence of the ocult, creepy demoniac as well as the necessary body horror and simply good acting, which simply resulted in a very entertaining horror series that was very easy to watch. And it was also continuous that the series always had something to offer you and hardly ever a dull or dead moment.

I finished it in two days/nights, which is often a good to very good sign for a series, especially here, because if a series does not catch on quickly, I either give up or have to wait and spend some time and effort. That's why I'll rarely have a series that I've completely finished watching with a really bad score. I realize halfway through that this isn't it and then judge accordingly.

Overall a well-deserved 8/10 for this Indonesian horror series.

And recommended for the genre enthusiast, but realize that there will also be plenty who will find this too much.
