In the first season they were still very much looking for a form and to which genre the series belongs. Maybe it wasn't all terribly well written, but it did have an infectious unpredictability because the makers themselves were still looking for their own form.

I feel like they tried to make this second season much more of a format that could last for several seasons. They now remain very safe within the repeatable concept of a ghost that must have solved something somewhere and is troubling Kevin in his slacker existence.

The only common thread is that he has now found a ghost girlfriend that he lies to so that she cannot cross over to the other side. In itself, that premise produces quite nice comic finds. How do you keep a relationship with a ghost alive if you can't have sex? How do you prevent your loved one from finding out that you are blocking her from going to the other side? Still, it's just not interesting enough for the full thirteen episodes that have gone into it. Too many childish jokes in predictable plots that never rise above themselves.
