The Confidante/Une Amie Dévouée (a devoted friend) tells the story of Chris (an excellent Laure Calamy) who, in the aftermath of the terrorist attack on the Bataclan concert hall in Paris, joins a group of victims and their families. Chris is a rock fan who wants to help, with a lot of experience as a band manager and has even been photographed with Iggy Pop. But is this true, and can she be trusted?
The four-part The Confidante plays with this question constantly. Laure Calamy plays her role alternately vulnerable, enthusiastic, manipulative, annoying and always intriguing. At its core, The Confidante is an intense story about loneliness and the desire for contact. With great acting in all roles (Ava Baya as Myriam!) and a script based on true events, this small original French drama is a big surprise. Le bon plan secret!
