Top Dog is another typical Nordic Noir underworld-overworld thriller. We have already seen many; Lawyers/The Lawyer, Innan Vi Dör/Before We Die and most recently Snabba Cash by Jens Lapidus. Top Dog is also written by author Jens Lapidus (along with a battery of co-authors), and that usually brings something extra. Is that also the case with Top Dog? The theme - lawyer wants to move up the ladder at all costs and criminal wants to lead a normal life - leads to a nice thriller drama. Alexej Manvelov is never afraid to play a Swedish or Eastern European, Balkan or Southern European criminal, and does so credibly in Top Dog. Josefin Asplund plays the lawyer and does it well, although she doesn't jump off the screen in any way. In short, a nice drama from Swedish cuisine in which the pepper remains untouched.
