The true story is special. Enough reason to turn it into a four-part miniseries after the TV movie Canoe Man from 2010. Screenwriter and executive producer Chris Lang (Unforgotten, Innocent) has turned it into a gripping drama. Married couple An (Monica Dolan) and John Darwin (Eddie Marsan - Deceit, River) come up with a plan to get out of money troubles and swindle the insurance company.
Although the last episode is gripping but cannot match the level of the first two episodes, the tragicomic The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe breathes quality in everything. The incredible premise, the lively screenplay and above all the phenomenal acting performances. The power of true crime; you can't make this story up.
