The One plot

The One, nicely translated as De Ware, has an interesting premise. What would happen if everyone could find their perfect match based on DNA data? Just send in a hair and match. On to the ultimate set. What can I say: 26 million happy couples. It's still science fiction.
The first 4 episodes are strong, captivating and unfold at a brisk pace. Including some fresh plot twists. The last 4 episodes The One sinks far away, and can no longer fulfill the promise of the first half. A sought-after story about a (suicide) murder, some dull and weakly developed subplots, and a large degree of predictability kill The One. What remains is a British drama that, by a hair's breadth, just doesn't go under.
