The Hardacres plot
The series is set in Yorkshire, England, around 1890. After an accident leaves the Hardacre family penniless, they devise a radical business idea. The working-class family, originally from the port, soon finds themselves richer than they could ever have imagined, but their newfound wealth also thrusts them into the world of the upper classes, where they face the arrogance of both aristocrats and servants.
