The Ghost Bride plot

1890, colonial Malacca. A Malaysian Chinese woman accepts a marriage proposal from the wealthy Lim family to be the "ghost bride" for their dead son. Her family will be released from a lifelong debt, but she will be haunted by a ghostly husband for the rest of her life. Desperate to escape the situation, she becomes involved in a murder mystery and becomes embroiled in alien affairs far bigger than she could have imagined.
