Very nice miniseries, with the villainous premise that gentrification - real estate entrepreneurs push lower incomes away from disadvantaged neighborhoods - is directly linked to mafia practices. The light of progress shines like a fog light in the eyes of those who have lived in these working-class areas for years. Mark Tempel (Ken Duken) tries to make ends meet as a male nurse, but is forced to fall back on the criminal boxing environment of his youth. An invisible force uses bullying and intimidation to try to get his family out of their social housing. What I like about 'Tempel' (2016) is how the noir vibe contrasts with the sweet, lovable underdog hero that Tempel actually is. The love and gentleness with which he takes care of his elderly clients, while he freezes boxing partners or criminals with the same fists. In addition to the rawness and explicit violence, it is actually a warm, nostalgic sketch of a part of Berlin that is disappearing. It's a shame that the last episode is very disappointing, it seems as if the gigantic cliffhanger alludes to a sequel season that never came. Three years later, I also think it's unlikely that we'll see this sweet avenging angel again.
