Taj Mahal 1989 plot

In 1989, couples of different ages at and around Lucknow University explore the politics of love through friendships, fledgling romances and marriage. Akhtar and Sarita are professors of philosophy and physics respectively, who have a 12-year-old son and have known each other for 22 years. Their marriage hangs by a thread, and her constant irritation with him and his refusal to participate in seemingly "non-intellectual" things that matter to her only widen the rift between them. Then Akhtar runs into his old classmate Sudhakar and his partner Mumtaz during a poetry reading.
