Seven Seconds plot

Tensions run high between African-American residents and white police officers in Jersey City when an African-American teen is seriously injured at the hands of a cop. The police are trying with all their might to cover up the incident, with all the consequences that entails.

Alhoewel het verloop weinig echte verrassingen kent, blijft deze serie boeien van begin tot eind. Het zit allemaal goed in elkaar en de personages zijn goed uitgewerkt. Er zit ook genoeg voortgang in het plot en ook het einde stelt niet teleur. Een kleine 4.0 sterren.

Although the course has few real surprises, this series remains captivating from start to finish. It's all well put together and the characters are well developed. There is also plenty of progress in the plot and the ending doesn't disappoint either. A small 4.0 stars.

Het einde is ronduit belachelijk. De bad guys winnen dus compleet. En dan bedoel ik niet de cop die de jongen had aangereden, want dat is dat is dan nog wel op te vatten als een soort kritiek op het rechtssysteem. Maar dat die anderen, die ook nog twee getuigen vermoordden, er in het verhaal volledig ongestraft mee weg komen is wel erg moeilijk te verteren. Kan me niet voorstellen dat het de bedoeling was om de serie zo te laten eindigen. Ik neem aan dat het oorspronkelijke plan was dat er een seizoen twee zou komen.

The ending is downright ridiculous. So the bad guys completely win. And I don't mean the cop who hit the boy, because that can be seen as a kind of criticism of the legal system. But that the others, who also killed two witnesses, get away with it completely unpunished in the story is very difficult to digest. Can't imagine the series was meant to end like this. I assume the original plan was for a season two.

Een geweldige mini serie. Niet al te veel tempo, maar dat was ook niet nodig. Blijft boeiend. Goed geacteerd. Laat zien hoe lastig het werk van de o.v.j. is als politie erbij betrokken is. Ik vermoed dat het Nederland niet veel anders toegaat. Racisme, corruptie en vriendjespolitiek biinen de politie vindt ook hier plaats. Al worden in Nederland foute politie-agenten wel regelmatig geofferd.

A great mini series. Not too much pace, but that was not necessary. Remains fascinating. Well acted.

Shows how difficult the work of the public prosecutor is when the police are involved. I suspect that the Netherlands is not much different. Racism, corruption and cronyism within the police also occur here. Although in the Netherlands, bad police officers are regularly sacrificed.
